Now, I also have two game consoles connected with Ethernet cords to the modem and they're working fine - I can get online, play games, stream movies etc. The problem is just the Windows 7 PC.
I've already googled the problem and tried every solution offered - I flushed and renewed the DNS using the ipconfig commands, I set the DNS manually but nothing seems to work!
Could this be a virus of some sort? I have McAfee running, and I performed a scan but it doesn't detect anything. My gut feeling is that there's a virus that's changing the DNS. Any suggestion on how I can confirm, or what other steps I can take?
As always, though the exact process necessary to forward ports will vary, the steps required to access the pertinent options within any router will be similar. Are you giving it the correct credentials? If this is a home or otherwise non-domain machine you'd need to check "Connect using different credentials". Hey I had the same problem and after testing the chord using the solutions mentioned in this thread reinstalling the drivers and restarting the router and computer times. I figured out a solution. It seems that if you have multiple computers on the network and they have File and folder sharing on it will set up a Network of it's own.

So i called my service provider and after 30 minutes of waiting for a tech i finally got the answer that i usually get from my service provider So what i am suggesting is if anyone has the same problem you should contact your service provider before making any major changes to your system.
Sure, try some of the steps that are mentioned throughout this forum but before you go and restore your computer to its original factory condition i suggest calling your internet service provider first.

I tried every solution mentioned in the thread yet nothing worked. Finally i managed to resolve the problem by bridging the wireless network adapter with my nforce controller, though that one remains disabled.
Instantly your internet should start working again. Note that the nforce controller is still disabled, so although using a bridge you are still only using the wireless connection, but the dns problem should now have disappeared. Type: nslookup to a command prompt cmd to find the DNS server you are using. Option1 and its sub option check box. Register this connection's address in DNS. Reset the Firewall to default settings. Disable all network adapters and then re enable. Disable IPv6 settings. Reset the Adapter. Resetting: Launch cmd. Change DNS server Internal. Try a system restore. Reset router and test. Troubleshoot hardware issues. Hope this helps. This post is targets all the users who experience DNS issues.
